The region of Rhône-Alps is located in the East of France, comprises the departments of Rhône(69), Ain(01), Loire(42), Isère(38), Savoie(73), Drôme(26), Ardêche(07) and Haute-Savoie(74).
It is a top winter sport region, containing the Western side of the Alps, bordering Switzerland and Italy, and for walking, cycling and water sports and recreation around Lakes Geneva and Annecy. Also popular with tourists is the Ardêche, which contains the deepest gorge in Europe.
